Diversity management and inclusive leadership, first objectives of Randstad project

Each year, the Edelman Trust Barometer takes the pulse of the four fundamental institutions of today's society - government, business, media and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) - and the public's perception of them.

The report published at the start of 2021 has shown that, on this occasion and for the first time in its history, companies are the organizations with the greatest capacity for social change. Even more so than the media or public administrations. In fact, companies are identified as the most ethical and competent institutions, approaching the status and trustworthiness of NGOs. The study shows that the events of 2020 have only strengthened the commitment, role and responsibility of companies in the social sphere. The business community interests are tangible when promoting strategies linked to fostering inclusion, equity and diversity.

This goal is precisely the aim of 'Companies for diversity and inclusion'.  A project in which we participate and which is promoted by the Randstad Foundation. This approach aims to generate knowledge about all these aspects and make it available to the whole society. In this way, the integration of diversity in the field of disability and employment is promoted.

For 2021, the project's first objectives are diversity management and inclusive leadership. To this end, in these first months the team of experts, led by Guillermo García, professor at the University of La Rioja (UNIR), will design a platform. The aim of this action is that participating companies such as ours can use it and adapt it to their procedures, measuring different indicators of Diversity and Inclusion to detect possible areas for improvement.

The idea is to provide a simple and agile analysis with a scientific basis so that companies can carry out a self-diagnosis. Once the result is determined, guidelines can be set to improve the impact of diversity and inclusion in the participating entities.

"We are very much looking forward to the findings of the study. It is important to know where our weaknesses are to work on them. Sometimes companies have good intentions, but they don't know the best way to implement them. So, putting the focus on what can be improved through the experts is a gift for us and we hope to make the most of it", highlights Pilar Choza, HR and Communication Director.

Throughout the year, we will also carry out other actions to continue giving visibility to the project. These actions will range from the organization of technical conferences aimed at generating debate to positioning with business think tanks. We will also organize dissemination and awareness campaigns. We will also organize conferences to disseminate the culture and knowledge of disability and diversity.
